After a funny summer ; with the weather ; and the lovely thunder storms
and the church being hit for the 3RD TIME. but as they say 3 time lucky as the new lighting conductor fitted it worked ; a lady having a café nealy had kittens; as she saw it hit ; a strong drink was needed by all of us;
as from september we our open from 9am till 9pm and will stay open till 9pm
even if no one in the restaurant or bar; we will start winter menu in Octobre; so you will always have somewhere to eat even if we are the last chance restaurant for some people::::
we are the same as always not changed; always weclome you ; and give you 100% care; so please dont de put off by the small people who want to see us go under; yes dave is not well thats why we have to sell but will still give and have given all of you 100%when you have eaten they or had a drink;

Fantastic time had by all! 43 eating plus some people popped in for drinks, French and English.

VILLAGE FAIR ON EASTER SUNDAY

Our village of PARNAC is organising a MARKET DAY on EASTER SUNDAY 12th April 2009 sart at 9am. All day long on the church square in front of the LE BON VIVRE restaurant, our usual customers, visitors and tourists will be able to buy crafts and local products.

The restaurant will open up as early as 7am to welcome the artisans and stall keepers for a drink or a good breakfast. On sale at our counter you will be able to find our home made PATE BERRICHON which is a traditional food for Easter in the area. Locally the PATE BERRICHON is called Pâté de Pâques (Easter paté).

If you don't want to eat a full meal you will also be able to buy our home made BREAD PUDDING known as DUSTMAN WEDDING CAKE as take-away.

EN DIRECT DE PARNAC LIVE FROM PARNAC

Last night the FR3 television team was broadcasting live from Parnac, on the terrace of AU BON VIVRE restaurant. The issue was about the English settlers in the region. The presentator interviewed a lady in-the-know on the issue. Many English couples living in the area were there for the event, drinking and talking happily. Mr Laubier, the village 'mayor' (parish council chairman) was there too.

To be precise, although the presentator introduced AU BON VIVRE as a bar, it is a fully licensed RESTAURANT.

Last night, the restaurant was swarming with English families having drinks. Teresa and David, however, pride themselves at making their French and English customers meet, eat and drink... and dance together.

See you at the restaurant in Parnac on Saturday night 23rd August for the MUSIC NIGHT for a bit of 'entente cordiale'!

Hier soir l'équipe de télévision FR3 émettait en direct depuis Parnac, sur la terrasse du restaurant AU BON VIVRE. Le sujet de l'émission était les Anglais qui s'installent dans la région. Le présentateur s'entretenait avec une dame qui s'y connaissait sur le sujet. Beaucoup de couples d'Anglais vivant dans le secteur étaient là pour l'évènement, buvant et discutant joyeusement. Mr Laubier, le maire du village, y était aussi.

Juste pour une mise au point, bien que le présentateur ait introduit AU BON VIVRE comme un bar, il s'agit bien d'un RESTAURANT agréé.

Hier soir, le restaurant était plein de familles anglaises qui prenaient l'apéritif. Teresa et David, cependant, sont fiers du fait que leurs clients français et anglais se rencontrent, mangent et boivent... et dansent ensemble.

A samedi donc, 23 août, au restaurant de Parnac pour la SOIREE MUSIQUE pour un peu d' "entente cordiale"!

UNE FIDELE CLIENTE A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER

Voilà 2 ans que nous avons repris le restaurant AU BON VIVRE à Parnac et nous sommes fiers d'avoir quelques fidèles clients et convives.

L'une d'entre eux est DOLLY, une jolie 2cv des années 60, qui stationne devant le restaurant sur le trottoir sans vergogne. Son chauffeur, qui est Anglais, aime s'asseoir et commander une bonne bière, poisson-frites, et même un rôti dominical, pendant que la jolie 2cv se laisse admirer par les passants.

Pour la prochaine visite de DOLLY, son chauffeur a commandé pour lui-même un pâté en croûte au steak et rognon.

A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER
Two years now since we have taken over the restaurant AU BON VIVRE in Parnac. We are proud to have quite a few faithful customers.

Among them is DOLLY, a pretty 2cv (deux chevaux) of the 60's who parks in front of the restaurant on the pavement without permission. Her chauffeur, who is English, likes sitting down for a good beer and a fish and chips, or even a Sunday roast, while the pretty 2cv lets herself be admired by passers-by.

For DOLLY's next visit, the chauffeur has ordered for himself homemade steak and kidney pie.

Eh bien... dansons maintenant!

On the last Saturday of July we had our usual fantastic MUSIC NIGHT... when French and British danced together!!!
About 40 diners had a curry on the terrace by the rope lights under the lime tree.

The 16 € MENU was:

- curried potatoe balls,
- chicken curry with lentils and rice,
- rice pudding

As Maureen, one of our regular guest, had her birthday, everyone had a share of a huge birthday cake as well.
On the 26th July the weather was perfect for our MUSIC NIGHT and everyone dined and danced outside. We've ordered the same kind of weather for our next MUSIC NIGHT on Saturday 23rd August at 7.30pm.

The CREUS'IN band will be playing for us again. They play the Sixties, Country music and Irish music.

Le dernier samedi de juillet nous avons tenu notre habituelle NUIT DE MUSIQUE... où les Français et les Britanniques ont dansé ensemble!!!
Environ 40 convives ont savouré un curry maison sur la terrace sous les lampions et le tilleul. Le MENU à 16 € consistait en:

- des boulettes de pomme-de-terre au curry
- du poulet au curry avec lentilles et riz
- gateau de riz

Comme Maureen, une de nos fidèles convives, fêtait son anniversaire, tout le monde a eu droit à un morceau du gros gâteau d'anniversaire en plus.

Le 26 juillet le temps était parfait pour notre NUIT DE MUSIQUE et tous ont dîné et dansé dehors. Nous avons passer commande pour le même type de temps pour notre prochaine NUIT DE MUSIQUE le samedi 23 aôut à 19.30
L'orchestre CREUS'IN nous ferons danser encore. Ils jouent les musiques des années 60, de la country music et de la musique irlandaise.

Ne nous trompons pas!

Il existe deux endroits en France sous le nom de PARNAC , un dans le Lot, et celui-ci dans l'Indre, en province du Berry, au sud de la Région Centre, du côté d'Argenton-sur-Creuse et de Châteauroux.

AU BON VIVRE est un restaurant de village, en pleine zone rurale d'élevage bovin du Bas-Berry, à la limite des pays de langue d'oïl et d'oc. Malgré qu'il n'y ait pas de grande ville notoire dans les parages et que les bulletins météo sautent allègrement du Poitou à l'Auvergne sans nous voir, PARNAC avec ses 750 habitants, son clocher et son restaurant existe bel et bien... en plein coeur de la France.

Don't make a mistake!There are two places in France called PARNAC, one in the Lot district, and this one in the Indre district, in the province of Berry, in the south of the Region 'Centre', in the neighbourhood of Argenton-sur-Creuse and Chateauroux.

AU BON VIVRE is a village restaurant, right in the middle of a rural area for cattle breeding in the Bas-Berry, on the dividing line of the two parts of France of 'oye' and 'oc' language.Though there aren't any large notorious city to be found in the area and though the weather reports tend to jump from the Poitou to the Auvergne provinces without seeing us, PARNAC with its 750 inhabitants, its steeple and its restaurant does exist indeed... in the very heart of France.

Friday night was country music and it was a success with English and French customers dancing away until late.

David is taking a rest after a long session of cooking chili con carne and other popular cow boy food!

LES VIEILLES VOITURES

Le déjeuner du dimanche 'AU BON VIVRE' à Parnac:

Comme prévu, les convives du rally des vieilles voitures sont arrivés au restaurant dans leurs bolides... En fait, il ne s'agissait pas d'un rally proprement dit, mais d'une sortie des membres du Cercle d'Histoire d'Argenton-sur-Creuse dans leurs voitures des années 60.

Avant d'arriver à PARNAC ils avaient fait halte à St Benoit-du-Sault pour une visite historique...

A leur arrivée au restaurant, ils ont trinqué avec un kir maison.

Ils ont ensuite enchaîné avec: - en entrée, salade de chèvre chaud- sauté de biche avec une purée de pommes de terre et carottes- fromages- 'crumble' de pommes avec crème anglaise- café

Certains autres convives habitués du restaurant sont aussi arrivés en bolides des années 60 par solidarité!

A FRENCH VINTAGE CAR RALLY

If you like the good old days machines , come on down this Sunday, 22nd June.

Have a look at the old cars as they'll be stopping here for lunch. The vintage cars will be parked opposite us, in the Church car park. We have a reservation for 30 to 40 persons eating lunch, so there will be quite a few cars to admire.

You are welcome to have a drink on the terrace while the vintage drivers have their lunch. If you work up an appetite, we will serve you a meal afterwards... We are a pair of old veterans ourselves.

SPECIAL MUSIC NIGHT

On the last Friday of the month, on 27th June at 7.30 pm, we will have a group of musicians called 'Creusin', a country music group of two men and one lady, who will play and sing for us for the evening. We can dance the whole evening away... Yeehaa!

If you work up a hunger, we will serve cow boy food: Chili Con Carne, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs or Spare Ribs off the barbecue.

See you here on 27 June 2008... Yeehaa!!! (We'll have water and grass for your horses)

TETE DE VEAU

Every month on the 29th, there is a large rural market, all morning from dawn to lunch time, at a village called LES HEYROLLES about 30 km from Parnac. This market is more like a fair. You find live animals from sheep to chickens, fish like carps and eels, lots of wine to taste and buy, clothing, clogs, plants, souvenirs and machinery. You name it, they'll have it.

On that particular day most restaurants in the area offer traditional dishes .
The chef of this Happy Restaurant, David, prepares his own "tête de veau". French market traders know about it and make a detour to have their meal at LE BON VIVRE in Parnac on their way home. They know they can turn up at any time and be fed with a laugh!

PLEASE NOTE: When the 29th falls on a Sunday, the market takes place on the following Monday. This month the market in Les Heyrolles will be on Monday 30th June.

FISH AND CHIPS AND MUSHY PEAS

We are known for our FISH AND CHIPS by our local French customers, as much as by our regulars. It is served on a plate (sorry not in a newspaper!) together with a large helping of chips as well as mushy peas or baked beans.

The photo above shows a merry group of French friends who were trying FISH AND CHIPS for the first time. They found it "délicieux" and confirmed they'll be back for more with more friends. Voilà!

FISH AND CHIPS is available at any time any day, to eat on the premises or to take away, for €10,- per person.

Hi everyone !

Our names are Teresa and David...

We welcome you all with a smily face for a drink or a nosh and lots of banter (no gossip)...

Tonight is our usual barbecue night. Where? In our Happy Restaurant called 'Au Bon Vivre' in the village of Parnac in the middle of France. See instructions how to get here on the side bar.

What you get at the BBQ is 3 meats and a choice of salads and desserts as much as you can eat :

Never mind the weather... eating out on the terrace or inside, you'll have a good time anyway.

We have BBQs every Tuesday. See you tonight!... or next Tuesday!

By the way we were filmed on a barbecue night by the local French television team FR3 last year. We were also interviewed by the local French newspaper 'La Nouvelle République' last September. In november 2007 we were seen on the local tv both at dinner time and on the evening news for three days.
